I agree- Melbourne is a wonderful city. I stayed at a hostel with a rooftop terrace near Victoria Market. Nearby was a delightful pub, the Metropolitan, that was perfect for dinner and a couple of pints. Transportation is incredible- easy to navigate and there are 2 free loops that encircle the city. You can get to all major points of interest using either the inner tram and a wider bus route. I loved the contrast of old and new architecture; be sure to check out the one of the more recently built areas :Federation Square. It's just across the street from the Victorian Era Flinders Station.
I also explored a bit outside the city proper, heading out the Lilydale or Belgrave line to Canterbury. There are several good lunch spots on the Maling Rd. And stroll around the surrounding neighborhood to see beautifully maintained Victorian cottages. I know I found the one I'd love to live in. Do you find this valuable?
