I accidentally stumbled upon your page – what a cool itinerary! Beautiful pictures! I am facing a problem of trying to do lots of things in a short period of time (9 days) in Australia, but will now be taking a root similar to yours, starting in Brisbane and checking out cool stuff around it. Can’t wait to see Queensland!

Hi I am new here and want to post a serious warning about a freight company called : discountfreight.com.au or computerezy.com.au or global postal solutions , ozpost pty limited same as globalps.com.au They are all linked and not trustworthy. I have been sending (and paying!) luggage from Au to Germany only to still wait for my overdue suitcases and to have NObody from that company replying to my e-mails anymore!! I found people in other forums who had the same problems, so BEWARE!! Enjoy Australia and take care

Hi i have also had problems with this freight company. I sent 4 boxes at the end of september 2007 to Austraia from England and they have still not arrived. I visited Australia and i spoke on the phone and they said that they was there but were being held up by customs. It is now the end of June and each time we ring they will be with us in four days and we are still waiting for them. I am still trying to get some action taken . if you have any ideas please let me know.

I love Australia very much because it's very beautiful which looks like a picture. If you travel there, you should buy goods related to lanolin or wool. It's worth to do that! Trust me!

RE: Tips for Getting Around Sydney

When I was there, we took advantage of buses, trains and the ferries. We took the train one day into Sydney proper from Circular Quay. It was cheap, quick and I have to say much cleaner than most public trains I've ever been on. The bus we took also from Circular Quay to get to Blacktown and that was also inexpensive and easy to use. We never once felt like we would be lost. However, the ferry was my favorite. We took that to Taronga Zoo, Manly and Darling Harbour on more than one occassion and its not just a great way to get around, its so beautiful.

My friends and I are going to Australia in mid January 2008. We are starting in Brisbane then going to Sydney and Melbourne for the Australian Open. Should we buy plane tickets to get from city to city. How far in advance should we book our flights.

I don't know where you are flying in from, but I know from the US Qantas has a deal that lets you pick 3 cities for one price. When I was there, a lot of the locals said that Qantas has a loca, economy division that flies between cities very reasonably. I don't know the name of it, but I would think you could access it through Qantas. I would book as early as you can as January is a peak travel month. Have a great time!

I've been to Sydney, Hobart and Melbourne and all three were amazing. If you do get to Tasmania, the Bruny Island Charter is a really cool boat trip on the Tasman Sea. Going to the top of Mt Wellington and to the Tahune Forest are great too. Its a really beautiful place and there is a lot to see and do there. If you're in Hobat on Saturday, the Salamanca market will be in full swing and you can't miss it. Food, handmade crafts and souveniers - its a great shopping and dining adventure. In Melbourne, we stayed on the Yarra River and it was a great area for venturing out into the city. We went and saw the Little Blue Penguin Parade which was really awesome, but take the short tour - the all day one takes you to a couple places that really aren't all that and you can spend that time exploring the city instead. For a really nice outdoor wildlife experience, try Echidna Walkabout Tours - they take you into the bush to see wild kangaroos, koalas and other animals and treat you to a nice lunch outdoors. It was a great day. All three cities to me were fabulous and I'd go back again in a heartbeat. We never felt uncomfortable walking around any of the cities day or night - very friendly, clean and safe. The public transportation is easy to use in Sydney and Melbourne, so don't be afraid to just go wandering! Have a great time!

Still no formal winners announcement on the Wiki page. On this main page for the contest it says "Our panel of judges will pick the 3 best profile pages and send each winner, and a guest of his/her choosing, to one of the three cities." I perused all profiles and found just four qualifying entries (including mine). I suppose it's possible I didn't win, but I'd like to know who did and who's going where. I'd be happy to go to any of the three cities!

Thanks for the reply. We are booked for New Zealand, Australia and Figi. I can't believe we are going Nov. 3. We found an Aussie Specialist About Australia, and he really worked an independent trip for us. Our highlight will be four nights on Heron IS where I will realize my dream and snorkel the Great Barrier Reef. Any "must do's" or eating suggestions/restaurants/tours will be appreciated!!! I wonder if they wear white shoes since it is summer???

I had been to Australia last year 2006 April. I stayed first one month in melbourne and last two months in sydney. Both the cities i found very beautiful. There are many sight seeing places like Great Ocean Drive. Sydney's acquarium is really good . Here we saw so many varities of fishes. The amazing arcitecture of Opera House is worth visiting place. I went to Bondi Beach also and its good to spend time there.
I really enjoied staying in Australia and would like to go there again.
