travel up the East Coast.
Hey guys,
I'm planning to travel up the East Coast, most likely from Sydney all the way up to Cairns, and I've been doing some research on places to go, things to do, places to stay, but there's only so much I can do without getting some advice from people who have done it! It would be great to hear from some of you about your experiences, where you went and loved, places to avoid and things to avoid - anything and everything I should know :) Tall order I know ;)
At the moment it's just me (22 year old English music producer/ dj), meeting up with people when I'm out there along the way, but if there are any like minded people who are also planning a similar trip (starting around April 09) then gimme a shout!!! Thanks,
Jamie

Touring around Queensland
I’m planning a trip to Burleigh Heads in Queensland, and I bumped into this website that has a fair bit of information about the area, accommodation and things to do: Burleigh Heads Accommodation | Burleigh Tourism - Home ,
but if anyone knows anything else about this area and could give me some tips, it’d be great! Cheers!

If you're from the US, keep it to yourself.
Ain't that the truth! Now onto better things. Anyone know of some good fishing "holes" in SA, Vic, NSW?

First time to Australia
The weather should be nice but it can be hot. I was in Melbourne last Feb and it was 98 (Farenheit). Sydney was perfect at that time - 70's and 80's (Farenheit). In Sydney, there are lots of things to see and do. If you get a chance to go to Katoomba and the Blue Mountains region, I highly recommend it. Having a drink at the Opera House Bar in the evening is a must do as well. Take the ferry to Manly - the ride alone is worth the trip. In Melbourne, we did the Little Penguin Parade which was amazing. Take the direct tour though - the all day one makes some rather tedious stops. The wine country outside the city is very nice and we did an amazing tour to see wild kangaroos and koalas with a tour operator you can check out at echidnawalkabout.com.au Have a wonderful time! Lisa

Thanks!
I accidentally stumbled upon your page – what a cool itinerary! Beautiful pictures! I am facing a problem of trying to do lots of things in a short period of time (9 days) in Australia, but will now be taking a root similar to yours, starting in Brisbane and checking out cool stuff around it. Can’t wait to see Queensland!

What are your fave websites for researching your holidays in Aust?
I'm a local and when i travel interstate, I don't like to go to travel agents or anything as i find that its a bit of a rort plus they don't have the local insights.
i like to go on road trips but i don't have a car so will need to time it so others with cars can join me. NRMA is a good place to go for maps and local rest stops, diners etc.
For food recommendations (and let's face it we ALL need to eat lol) http://www.eatability.com.au/ is a pretty awesome site as its reviewed and rated by locals
Accomodations you can't beat http://www.hotels.com.au/ don't let the name fool you it ain't just about 5 star accomod it caters for the romantic 'dirty' weekend at a lodge by the sea to family B&B down to hostels and camp sites
As for stuff to do when you get there i reckon www.godo.com.au has a great range for us locals (cuz i saw massage packages there too) as well as 10 day adventure holidays. I'm looking forward to my ski trip next week my girlfriend and i'd booked (that's www.godo.com.au/activity/SNAD101 ) . We planing to go skiing for 3 days then proly drive down to Canberra to visit friends (any more than 3 days i'll REALLY need a massage haha!)

How to get the Best Deal on Car Hire in Brisbane
Avoid collecting a car at the Airport:
- You'll Save Money. Airport collection incurs an additional premium surcharge. - You'll Save Time. Long queues are common and time consuming. - You'll Save Energy. Having to search through a sea of cars with luggage is never fun.
Alpha car Hire will pick you up from the terminal and take you straight to your car. It saves you from paying the surcharge, and you'll receive a personal service.
Book Early: If you book early and avoid peak times you'll get a lower rate. Try to avoid Fridays and Saturday
pick-ups. The best thing to do is hop onto the Alpha Car Website as soon as possible to get the cheapest available price.
Book for longer: The longer you book for, the cheaper the daily rate. Alpha Car hire is very competitive with their daily rates so it's worth while checking the price. You may be surprised how little an extra day is.
Price beat Guarantee: Alpha Car Hire will not only match any price available in Australia, they'll beat it. Just make sure the competitor ad is available to the Australian general public, and print a copy for your records. For more details on the Price Beat Guarantee visit the web link below or call them on 1300 22 74 73
For discounted car rental Brisbane, or for cheap car hire anywhere else in Australia, visit Alpha Car Hire.
