Melbourne Victoria

We arrived in Melbourne at the end of February 2006 - the weather was perfect!! Melbourne was hosting the Commonwealth Games, so the city was very busy. We took the ferry (many times) along the Yarra River, had lunch at the river side cafes, shopped in the city, at scrumptious sandwiches of Brie and Focaccia. Had a wonderful lunch at The Berth restaurant on the river.




We went to Healesville Sanctuary and saw the animals and the Birds of Prey show. Afterwards we looked at antiques and had lunch in Yarra Glen.

We took the trip on Puffing Billy with our grand daughter through the hills and valleys. She was 4 years old and thrilled with the trip!!

Later in the trip, we went to the Mornington Peninsula, stopped at a Spa and took in the hot pools. Then we went to Rosebud Beach, had a picnic and swam in the perfect, azure blue water!!

The next week we drove the Great Ocean Road, to the Otway Lighthouse. Stopping in Apollo bay overnight. The scenery was fantastic and we saw 6 koalas in the trees long the way.

We spent 2 weeks in the Melbourne area, then headed to New South Wales - Sydney for our next adventure!!
