Dream Trip Part 1

General itinerary:

• Sydney 5 days
• Hobart 5 days
• Melbourne 4 days

Trip highlights: Just being in Sydney was awesome. I could have walked around the Sydney Harbour area forever. Everything we did in and around Sydney was great. Tasmania is the most beautiful place I have ever been and full of amazing things to see and do. Melbourne is a very cosmopolitan city with great food, shopping and nightlife.


"Absolute must-sees" to pass along: Cruising on the Tasman Sea from Bruny Island is an excursion everyone should try. The Blue Mountains outside Sydney were beautiful and full of things to do and the Little Penguin Parade on Philip Island oustide Melbourne was really unbelievable.


Best wildlife encounters: Featherdale was the absolute best. I have wanted to get that close to a koala since I was 3 years old. The Serendip Open Ranges outside Melbourne was an outstanding place to see wild roos and koalas as well as many types of birds. The little penguin parade is almost surreal.


What surprised me most: Tasmania. I thought it would be a dry, barren place and it was anything but! The weather, the people, the scenery - it was all unreal. I had a very hard time leaving Tas. The Salamanca market was a wonder in itself and the restaurants were all fabulous.


Advice I want to pass along: Don't miss a chance to visit Tasmania


Best hotels: The Langham Hotel in Melbourne is luxurious and in a great locale. Lenna of Hobart is a fabulous old mansion hotel with impeccable service.



Favorite meals: Alexander's and Mummalukka in Hobart, A wonderful Greek restaurant on the Yarra River in Melbourne, wonderful fish everywhere, but particularly on Cabbage Tree Beach in Manly. The pumpkin soup at Bruny Island Charters cafe in Tas was fantastic!
